Role & responsibilities
Experience
1-3 years experience in Automotive BIW or Surface Design.
Education
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering.
Skills
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 (Part Design, Sheet Metal, Generative Shape Design) or Siemens NX.
- Good understanding of BIW structures (A/B/C pillars, sills, roof rails, dash panel, floor panels).
- Experience with surface modeling techniques such as boundary, sweep, multi-section surfaces, trimming, and joining.
- Understanding of sheet metal design guidelines including bend radius, flange design, draw depth, and emboss features.
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
- Familiarity with automotive gap & flush standards.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D models and assemblies using CATIA V5/V6 or Siemens NX.
- Perform surface feasibility checks for Class-A surfaces and develop Class-B and Class-C surfaces for production.
- Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T and maintain structured BOMs.
- Integrate joining technologies such as spot welding, MIG welding, laser brazing, and structural adhesives.
