Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Candidates must have strong knowledge of GD&T, aerospace drawings, precision measuring instruments, CMM inspection and CMM programming.
  • Good understanding of milling, turning, drilling, boring and conventional machining processes.
  • Knowledge of tool materials, grades, coatings, geometries, speeds, feeds, wear patterns and failure modes.
  • Hands-on familiarity with tool presetters, shrink-fit machines, balancing equipment and inspection instruments.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex aerospace drawings, datum reference frames, geometric tolerances, tolerance stack-ups, surface-finish requirements and inspection criteria.
  • Hands-on experience using precision measuring instruments and performing CMM inspection and CMM programming, including datum alignment, probe qualification, feature construction, program validation and inspection-report interpretation.
  • Working knowledge of fixture concepts, locating, clamping, repeatability and manufacturability.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/SAP and MS Excel; exposure to AutoCAD, Creo, CATIA V5 or SolidWorks is desirable.
  • Experience in aerospace, defence or another high-precision manufacturing environment is preferred; direct aerospace machining experience will be an advantage.Ability to conduct root-cause analysis, evaluate trial results and implement sustainable corrective action.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in CNC tooling, tool-room operations, tool crib management, jig and fixture development or precision manufacturing, with demonstrated exposure to aerospace drawings, precision inspection and CMM programming.
